Open Plan Apartments Part of Larger Residential Development in Hillsborough, Co. Down

The form of the apartments design ensures it is sympathetic to the more traditional surrounding context. However, contemporary features such as the large, glazed elevation and the smooth white render provide the dwelling with a modern feel.

The modern elevation is softened by the natural material of timber used in the tushes. Connecting the building with eh surrounding nature. Additionally, the use of brick mimics the materiality of the neighbouring homes, grounding the apartments in their context.

Internally the double height open plan kitchen living space provides a light and bright space which creates welcoming and versatile space. Sliding doors help extend the apartment further, bringing the outdoors in. External covered seating areas allow for internal and external spaces to be used fluidly in all weather conditions.

Further to this the stepped design of these apartments provides privacy for the occupants, allowing residents to take full advantage of the natural surroundings and enjoy their proximity to the river.
