New Build Replica Home in Conservation Area

Given this projects location within a conservation area we at Des Ewing Residential Architects worked hard to secure planning permission for the construction of this grand replacement dwelling, the process spanned over two years. Faced with the challenge of navigating stringent regulations and the sensitive nature of its location, the project required a strategic approach and careful consideration at every step.

Due to the planning authority's resistance towards new development along the main avenue, it was important to demonstrate that the proposed replacement dwelling would not only uphold but surpass the quality and architectural integrity of its predecessor. This necessitated a comprehensive strategy that involved multiple stages of consultation and collaboration.

We collaborated with the relative planning officers and held extensive discussions, providing an opportunity to showcase the vision behind the project and address any concerns raised. Utilizing advanced technology, detailed 3D models were presented to vividly illustrate how the new structure would blend into its surroundings, preserving the area's unique character.

Furthermore, attention was paid to the architectural detailing, particularly the external brickwork, to ensure a seamless transition and aesthetic continuity with neighbouring properties. By carefully matching the design elements to those of the existing structures, the proposal aimed to integrate the replacement dwelling organically into the fabric of the Conservation Area, earning the trust and approval of the planning authorities.
