Classic Country House Overlooking Golf Course

When creating a new home with a classical appearance, it is vital that the property seamlessly fits within its setting. For this project, Des Ewing Residential Architects selected Witton Fell sandstone, a material historically used in local properties. The sandstone is set atop a matching granite base for durability. Specialist stonemasons McConnell & Sons assisted in crafting an appearance that harmonises with the landscape and suits the property's classical style.

The 16,000 square foot main property and the coach house, connected by a stonework arcade, feature this beautiful stone. The interior of the home is colorful and modern, boasting intricate tiling. A standout feature is the staircase, inspired by Fortnum & Mason's design, crafted from cantilevered Portland stone with a polished stainless-steel handrail. The hallway is adorned with elegant Portuguese marble.

This home combines classical architectural style with contemporary detailing and finishes. The use of traditional stonework, along with views of a golf course and the surrounding rugged hills, makes this a distinctive country house. Des Ewing Residential Architects successfully created a property that is both timeless and grounded in its environment, reflecting a perfect blend of heritage and modernity.
