'Fairways', The Links, St. Andrews

Des Ewing Residential Architects were delighted to be invited to present our scheme for this residential development. Consisting of four terraced townhouses which would form part of the world famous St.Andrews Links golf course. Known as the 'Home of Golf', the game has been played there since the 15th Century and is the most frequent venue for The Open Championship.

Whilst beautiful, the historic surrounding area is also highly sensitive. This was something which had to be taken into consideration during the design process, to respect the existing context. However, it was also essential to fulfil the brief of producing a contemporary scheme.

The site was challenging due to its size as it was tight as well as being awkward. The team worked with it to produce a scheme which we are proud of and would incorporate extremely well into the existing are St. Andrew's as well as adding a modern architectural interest to the location.
